FUMC Tallassee is gearing up for their Summer Sack Lunch Program! On Wednesdays for 11 weeks during the summer, they provide healthy lunches for 75 kids in need in the community. Each sack lunch also includes a Bible story and activities. What a great way to share the love of Christ with those around us!

Mrs. Gloria Jean Williams and Rev. Jacqueline Slaughter of Metropolitan United Methodist Church were two of four women honored by the M. L. Baker Chapter #1, Order of the Eastern Star during their 20th Anniversary Celebration Banquet on Sunday, April 29, 2018. Hosted at the RSA Activity Center in Montgomery, the Eastern Star Chapter celebrated their legacy of community work and service by honoring women who do the same in both local and state arenas. Williams and Slaughter were recipients of the group's Community Service and Humanitarian awards respectively.

Montgomery FUMC had a day of service last week to avoid a conflict with Spring Break. Volunteers worked in yards, at local missions, sewed clothing for children, packed health kits, and more!

Respite Ministry at Montgomery FUMC welcomed Joann Hackett and Matt Cooper from UAB Memory Clinic to come and do an educational program for all members of our support group. An army of volunteers worked extra to cover a massive crowd at Respite. Education and support are vital while living with Alzheimer’s to sustain quality of life. Thanks to all who help make these two possible in Montgomery.

Friends from all over Montgomery gathered for a pancake breakfast benefiting Communities of Transformation. Pastors from local churches were joined by Bishop David Graves to serve. Communities of Transformation volunteers and participants acted as hosts for the event. Thanks to all who participated!

Prattville First UMC put together adorable children's Christmas stockings for the Autauga Interfaith Care Center as part of their Advent festival. The stockings will be distributed to children within the community by AICC.

Children in 3rd - 5th grades at Montgomery FUMC decorated and filled shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child. These boxes, along with over 100 shoeboxes which were prepared during Vacation Bible School, will be shipped across the world to share God's love with children who are victims of war, poverty, natural disasters, disease, and famine. It was heart warming to see the children take such care to decorate and pack the shoeboxes, write letters, and pray for the children who will receive them this Christmas season.

Millbrook First United Methodist Church collected more than 2000 boxes and cans of food for W.E.L.C.O.M.E. (our local food pantry) during our annual fall food drive. We were able to collect so much food by having a contest among Alabama, Auburn, and "other" University fans to see who could collect the most food. As you will see from the photographs, Alabama was the winner!

Churches around the district have been collecting money and supplies for disaster relief, even as we were faced with storms in our area. Youth at Montgomery FUMC helped with hurricane donation drop offs. We enjoy seeing our youth work in the name of the Lord.

It airs weekly on Sundays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays at 6:30 p. m. and Friday mornings at 9:30 a. m. We share a relevant word and discuss applying it to our lives. Join us!

The Stegall Seminary Scholarship Endowment Foundation held its Dinner of Celebration on Thursday, August 10, 2017. The banquet welcomed approximately 450 students, alumni, and supporters. Including those in attendance were some of the 49 seminary students being supported by the Foundation during the 2017-2018 school year.

Alabama Rural Ministry (ARM) is wrapping up summer ministry, and what a great time we have had hosting youth teams coming to serve through home repair and our children's day camps! Teams from the our area include Woodland UMCand FUMC Montgomery. Woodland served in Tuskegee, and Montgomery served at our West Alabama site. This week, youth from Auburn UMC are serving three of our families in their annual Sweat Week. ARM hosted a total of nineteen church youth groups this summer. We are looking forward to continuing our ministry this fall with local groups and college teams. Our vision is to Make Sweet Homes for Alabama and end substandard housing. We need you to help us accomplish this as we extend the love of Christ!

Robinson Springs UMC Children's Ministry sponsored a "winter warmth" missions project & tonight was the giveaway! Donated hats, gloves and scarves were collected for those needing extra warmth this winter season! The children were so excited about this event and shared handwritten encouraging messages that were attached to each item. Items are available for those needing warmth at the church.

Rabbi Elliot Stevens led a Joint Thanksgiving Service at FUMC Montgomery with Temple Beth Or and Church of the Ascension.
Volunteers from Millbrook FUMC and many other congregations served a Thanksgiving meal to clients of W.E.L.C.O.M.E. as part of Christ Community Cafe at the Millbrook Civic Center.

Millbrook FUMC donated nearly 300 coats for community children in need this year. Members of the United Methodist Women brought the coats to W.E.L.C.O.M.E. and sorted them Friday afternoon. They were distributed to families on Saturday morning. Pastor Nathan blessed the coats on Wednesday night.
River City Church held their Fourth Saturday Community Outreach Day on October 24. Some of the services offered included flu shots, health screenings, haircuts, a visit to the food pantry, and door prizes.

Capitol Heights UMC did something a little different for VBS this year. They had twenty one "Vivacious Busy Seniors" ranging in age from 59 to 99 attend a 4-day VBS with the theme "Mind, Body, Spirit--How We Use our Faith and Inner Strength to Meet the Challenges of Living and Aging."
Rev. Tim Barnes, Kim Hendrix, and Randy Watson were the guest speakers. The participants enjoyed games, crafts, and singing the old VBS songs.
